{"id":118734,"date":"2025-11-11T09:00:40","date_gmt":"2025-11-10T22:00:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/byroncoasttimes\/news\/remembrance-day-service-times-and-where-to-buy-poppies\/"},"modified":"2025-11-11T09:41:26","modified_gmt":"2025-11-10T22:41:26","slug":"remembrance-day-service-times-and-where-to-buy-poppies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/byroncoasttimes\/news\/remembrance-day-service-times-and-where-to-buy-poppies\/","title":{"rendered":"Lest we forget: Remembrance Day service times and where to buy poppies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>TODAY clubs, schools and volunteers will gather to honour fallen service personnel with RSL sub-branch groups hosting Remembrance Day commemorations at cenotaphs and memorial parks across the region.<\/p>\n<p>Services will be held at Ballina, Byron Bay, Lismore and Tweed on Tuesday, November 11 with a minute\u2019s silence to be observed at 11am.<\/p>\n<p>The Ballina RSL sub-branch will hold a commemorative service and wreath laying ceremony in Memorial Park.<\/p>\n<p>It will start at 10.45am with veteran Narelle Scott to be a guest speaker at the service, with lunch to follow.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe has had a long and distinguished career, it will be fitting for her to talk about her perspective as a veteran,\u201d Ballina RSL sub-branch president Jamie Tanner said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a chance for the public to come along for a little while, pay their respects and then go about their day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve already got about 60 people confirmed for lunch afterwards which is a good sign.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPhil Walsh will provide some light entertainment with music, and we\u2019ll have our youth ambassadors there, too.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Times for lunch and tickets can be found at ballinarsl.com.au\/remembrance-day\/<\/p>\n<p>The City of Lismore RSL sub-branch will be conducting its official Remembrance Day service and wreath laying at 10.30am.<\/p>\n<p>The service will be held at the Lismore Cenotaph at the Memorial Baths in Molesworth Street.<\/p>\n<p>The sub-branch and auxiliary group will be selling poppies and badges at Centro, Goonellabah Village, Lismore Shopping Square and Bunnings over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>The Byron Bay RSL sub-branch will hold its service at the Byron Bay Cenotaph, located at the entrance to the recreation grounds.<\/p>\n<p>Following the service, which starts at 10.45am, attendees are invited to gather for lunch at the Byron Bay Services Club, which is free for its members.<\/p>\n<p>The Tweed Heads and Coolangatta RSL sub-branch will hold its service at the Twin Towns RSL Memorial Park.<\/p>\n<p>It will be followed by the Coolangatta service one hour later at 11am Queensland time.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 597px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2025\/11\/481708567_1029420515_62926.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"597\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Ballina RSL sub-branch is hosting its service at the cenotaph, opposite the club.
