FAMILIES are invited to enjoy a free sausage sizzle at Bangalow Heritage House & Museum on Saturday November 22.<\/p>\n

Connecting Generations Bangalow<\/a> co-founder Ruth Winton-Brown said organisers decided to “change things up” from the usual Sunday afternoon gathering for its spring event, hoping the Saturday evening cook-up would attract new faces.<\/p>\n

“We know some families are doing it tough in the cost-of-living crisis and parents have so many time pressures \u2013 it’s an easy Saturday night dinner,” she said.<\/p>\n

Herne’s Butchery in Bangalow has donated two kilograms of sausages for the event, with vegan options also available.<\/p>\n

Connecting Generations Bangalow runs seasonal events designed to bring together young families \u2014 particularly those without relatives nearby \u2014 with older members of the community through creative and social activities such as art, craft and music.<\/p>\n

At the spring event, children can join in painting white buckets to use as drums for an intergenerational drumming circle, using wooden spoons as drumsticks. Others can join in the session with tambourines donated by Bangalow Anglican Op-Shop.<\/p>\n

Kids will also be able to make wizard wands from sticks and feathers, paint gum leaves to create Christmas cards for friends and family and fossick for gems donated by Crystal Castle.<\/p>\n

Winton-Brown said the group wanted to trial a new day and time to suit the sausage sizzle format and she hoped to see lots of families at the event, which runs from 4pm to 6.30pm.<\/p>\n
