{"id":119096,"date":"2025-11-20T13:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-11-20T02:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/byroncoasttimes\/?p=119096"},"modified":"2025-11-19T18:16:53","modified_gmt":"2025-11-19T07:16:53","slug":"thousands-taste-the-full-flavour-of-the-region-at-eat-the-street","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/byroncoasttimes\/news\/thousands-taste-the-full-flavour-of-the-region-at-eat-the-street\/","title":{"rendered":"Thousands taste the full flavour of the region at Eat the Street"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THOUSANDS of people experienced the full taste of Lismore with dishes from India to Italy served up at the Norco Eat the Street festival.<\/p>\n<p>The event returned for the first time in four years, with Lismore City Council estimating a crowd of 10,000 people.<\/p>\n<p>Local vendors served hundreds of dishes throughout the day, with local breweries and distilleries playing a big part in the event.<\/p>\n<p>It featured Asian-inspired dishes, Mexican favourites, Italian classics and vegetarian options.<\/p>\n<p>There was also plenty of entertainment and prize money for pie eating, waiter races and barista competitions.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is a celebration of who we are. Our producers, our creatives, our entertainers, and our community all come together to create something truly special,&#8221; Lismore mayor Steve Krieg said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;When Eat the Street first began in 2016, it was an instant success, a simple but powerful idea that brought people together to share good food, good company and the unique culture of Lismore.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2025\/11\/583924042_1488934572_10793.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Shoza Gyoza tent provided its classic Japanese dumplings at the event. Photo: SUPPLIED<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Over the years it became a staple on our events calendar, attracting more than 20,000 people to the CBD to experience our region&#8217;s incredible flavours and vibrant local hospitality.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Eat the Street was cancelled in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and struggled to find a return date following the floods in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>It returned this year with Norco coming on board as the naming-rights sponsor.<\/p>\n<p>It was also supported by the state government&#8217;s Vibrant Streets Package and major sponsor Quikshade.<\/p>\n<p>The state government funding is close to $300,000 and is expected to secure the festival for at least another two years.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Their commitment to our community has helped bring this award-winning festival back to life,&#8221; Krieg said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THOUSANDS of people experienced the full taste of Lismore with dishes from India to Italy served up at the Norco Eat the Street festival.
