{"id":119994,"date":"2025-12-12T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-12-11T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/byroncoasttimes\/?p=119994"},"modified":"2025-12-10T17:16:28","modified_gmt":"2025-12-10T06:16:28","slug":"focus-on-the-kids-as-club-lennox-takes-on-carols-on-the-green","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/byroncoasttimes\/news\/focus-on-the-kids-as-club-lennox-takes-on-carols-on-the-green\/","title":{"rendered":"Focus on the kids as Club Lennox takes on Carols on the Green"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A BIG crowd turned out for the first Carols on the Green at Club Lennox Sports with the community gathering raising vital funds for Lennox Head Preschool and several local groups.<\/p>\n<p>The event was a joint effort between the bowling club, Lennox Head Preschool and Lennox Head Public School, which stepped in to ensure the community didn&#8217;t miss out on a major Christmas celebration.<\/p>\n<p>Families were treated to a full program of entertainment, including choir performances from the schools, a reptile show presented by the Byron Bay Wildlife Sanctuary and a lively super soaker water fight hosted by the Fitness Kidz group.<\/p>\n<p>Cherry Street Sports community engagement manager, Jackson Connellan, said the event took six weeks to plan.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2025\/12\/lennoxcaroles-5813_06077.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Club Lennox Sports hosted the Carols on the Green event for the first time. Photo: EVANNA KELLY<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Williams Reserve was out of action this year, so the Combined Sports Association got in touch with us about running an event,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The preschool and primary school really took charge from there and we couldn&#8217;t have done it without them.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was great for everyone who came along and important that we didn&#8217;t miss out on such an integral community celebration.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We would love to able to continue to support the event and be involved again.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Carols on the Green also marked the start of the Christmas season across the Ballina Shire<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2025\/12\/lennoxcaroles-5711_21731.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"900\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Fitness Kidz ran a water fight with super soakers on the bowling greens. Photo: EVANNA KELLY<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Riverside Carols will follow at Kingsford Smith Park on Sunday, December 14.<\/p>\n<p>It will be hosted by the combined churches of Ballina and Lennox Head and is expected to attract a crowd of 2,500.<\/p>\n<p>There will be performances by preschools, schools and dance groups, and the event will finish with a fireworks display.<\/p>\n<p>The event runs from 4pm-8pm.<\/p>\n<p>Lennox Lions Club will also host its Christmas in the Park event on Friday, December 19 from 5pm-8pm.<\/p>\n<p>It will be held at Ross Park and will include live music, a barbecue and a chocolate wheel for the kids.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A BIG crowd turned out for the first Carols on the Green at Club Lennox Sports with the community gathering raising vital funds for Lennox Head Preschool and several local groups.
