{"id":121035,"date":"2026-01-09T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-01-08T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/byroncoasttimes\/?p=121035"},"modified":"2026-01-07T21:00:23","modified_gmt":"2026-01-07T10:00:23","slug":"sneaky-sound-system-to-celebrate-20-years-of-dance-hits-at-pub-show","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/byroncoasttimes\/news\/sneaky-sound-system-to-celebrate-20-years-of-dance-hits-at-pub-show\/","title":{"rendered":"Sneaky Sound System to celebrate 20 years of dance hits at pub show"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>POPULAR dance duo Sneaky Sound System will return to the region for the first time in several years with a headline show at the Shaws Bay Hotel.<\/p>\n<p>The show will take place on January 23 and is one of just three performances on the New South Wales leg of the group&#8217;s latest tour.<\/p>\n<p>Sneaky Sound System features vocalist and songwriter Connie Mitchell alongside DJ, producer and multi-instrumentalist Angus McDonald.<\/p>\n<p>Since emerging onto the Australian music scene in 2001, the duo has become one of the country&#8217;s most well-known dance acts.<\/p>\n<p>The Ballina performance is expected to sell out after big numbers attended a similar Sneaky Sound System show at the Beach Hotel, Byron Bay in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>It also marks the first major ticketed event at the Shaws Bay Hotel since its extensive redevelopment.<\/p>\n<p>The venue reopened in July after an 11-month closure, unveiling a new bar area, extended pavilion and increased undercover seating.<\/p>\n<p>Summer crowds have already flocked to the hotel, with soul singer Lisa Hunt drawing large numbers on New Years Day.<\/p>\n<p>The coming show coincides with the 20th anniversary of Sneaky Sound System&#8217;s self-titled debut album, which produced chart-topping hits including UFO, Pictures and I Love It.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Sneaky Sound System remain as in-demand as ever, playing sold-out headline shows and festivals around the country, New Zealand and into Asia,&#8221; the group&#8217;s tour manager said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Their more recent tracks are as beloved by audiences as their older hits, testament to their enduring popularity and ability to create tunes that start the party and keep it going.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The duo has received 14 ARIA Music Award nominations, including two wins for Breakthrough Artist and Best Dance Release.<\/p>\n<p>Mitchell has also worked on several side projects, including a co-writing credit on Snoop Dogg&#8217;s track Walk Away.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets for the Ballina show can be purchased at <a href=\"http:\/\/shawsbayhotel.com.au\/whats-on\/sneaky-sound-system\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">shawsbayhotel.com.au\/whats-on\/sneaky-sound-system\/<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>POPULAR dance duo Sneaky Sound System will return to the region for the first time in several years with a headline show at the Shaws Bay Hotel.
