GREATER Western Sydney coach Adam Kingsley believes that his side needs to improve their game plan by an extra 10 per cent to ensure they can contend in the 2026 AFL season.<\/p>\n
Entering his fourth season in charge of the Giants, the side has enjoyed strong home and away seasons, which have seen them make the finals in the previous three seasons.<\/p>\n
Only the Brisbane Lions did the same during these three years.<\/p>\n
But unlike the reigning premiers, the Giants have lost their last four finals matches, with their struggles in September being well documented as highlighted by their elimination final loss to Hawthorn last year.<\/p>\n
With this in mind, the club has already made improvements to their list, which includes the signing of Clayton Oliver from Melbourne to help bolster the midfield group.<\/p>\n
However, the 50-year-old believes that with some more consistency in their quick-moving Orange Tsunami game plan and some better luck with injuries, they could help close the gap to other premiership-contending teams.<\/p>\n
“A bit of everything for mine,” Kingsley told SEN Breakfast.<\/p>\n
“I think when you look at the way we play, I think 90 per cent of that is really strong.<\/p>\n
“I think we have to find a little bit more consistency in that. We’ve got to continue to improve the way we play. So, I’ve kind of lumped that into the last 10 per cent of how we play.<\/p>\n
“A bit of luck with injuries. Brent Daniels and Jack Buckley come finals time would have been nice last year, but it wasn’t to be. So, trying to maintain a healthy list and manage that throughout the year, which has its challenges for every club.<\/p>\n
“That would be the main things, but we’re always striving to improve and looking at things we can alter (and) adjust to improve on.”<\/p>\n
