PEARCES Creek Hall will host Minneapolis-based indie folk band Collapsing Stars for a one-off show after the group elected to delay its return to the United States amid ongoing political tensions.<\/p>\n

The added tour date will be held at the hall on Friday, February 27.<\/p>\n

Guitarist and songwriter Justin Wayne Nelson and cellist Allyson Strycharske are coming off a string of sold-out shows across Australia and New Zealand.<\/p>\n

The decision to remain in Australia followed advice from family and friends in Minnesota amid ongoing unrest surrounding the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency after the fatal shooting of two people in the\u00a0state.<\/p>\n

“Collapsing Stars put up a social media post saying they were delaying their return (home) on the advice of family and friends there,” Pearces Creek Hall president Simon Winfield said.<\/p>\n

“They had just finished touring Australia and New Zealand with sell-out shows in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.<\/p>\n

“We reached out to them, offering our community hall as a venue for their final show.”<\/p>\n

Nelson spent part of his childhood living in Victoria while his father, a sixth-grade science teacher, took part in an exchange program.<\/p>\n

He returned to Australia at the end of 2025 after the band was selected to perform at the Woodford Folk Festival, prompting them to book their first Australian tour.<\/p>\n

The duo’s popularity has grown through its Forest Folk Sessions on social media, featuring acoustic performances in open natural settings. Blending folk, blues and Americana with interlaced cello and vocal harmonies, the band has performed in front of crowds as large as 120,000 people.<\/p>\n

The Pearces Creek Hall performance is the only new show scheduled before they depart.<\/p>\n

“I had a flight booked from Auckland back to Minneapolis, but friends and family were texting me telling me not to come home,” Nelson said.<\/p>\n

“They said it felt like a military occupation and that morale was really low.<\/p>\n

“I explained my situation in a post on Instagram and was overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from Aussies around the country.<\/p>\n

“I still had a couple of months left on my visa, so I made the decision to fly back.<\/p>\n

“Australia is the only other country I’ve called home, and for our music to be embraced here has been an amazing full-circle moment.”<\/p>\n

The show will be supported by Grace Barr and Lily Innis.<\/p>\n
