AUSTRALIAN top order batsman Cameron Green has found himself at the centre of scrutiny again after the Aussie men were knocked out of the T20 World Cup in the group stage.<\/p>\n
Following a poor Ashes series with the bat, Green couldn\u2019t find any form in the shortest format this tournament, making just 24 runs from three innings so far only two months after becoming the IPL\u2019s most expensive overseas player in history.<\/p>\n
Having shone so brightly last year to earn that price tag, SEN Cricket\u2019s Bharat Sundaresan thinks something has gone terribly wrong with the all-rounder\u2019s confidence.<\/p>\n
Sundaresan described his form as the elephant in the room for Australian cricket.<\/p>\n
\u201cAfter leaving Smith and Renshaw out they had to win, especially with the batsmen they stuck with, Cam Green in particular had to come off,\u201d Sundaresan told SEN The New Ball.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think we need to talk about Cam Green. He’s the giant green elephant in the room, if you want to call him that.<\/p>\n

\u201cClearly, he doesn’t seem to be in a great space with his batting at the moment, and that dismissal against Sri Lanka was right up there.<\/p>\n
\u201cHaving walked out to bat at number three with a score at 1\/104 in 8.3 overs, you can’t get a better platform than that.\u201d<\/p>\n
With the IPL season beginning in late March, Sundaresan pondered whether the all-format player needs a break from the game before joining Kolkata, who will clearly be expecting him to deliver after paying $4.17 million AUD for his services this upcoming season.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf you are the Kolkata Knight Riders who paid that big sum for Cam Green, you’re going, \u2018Hang on, we need to have a week with Cam Green before the IPL starts\u2019,\u201d Sundaresan said.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou’d think that he would bat in that top three for them as well.<\/p>\n
\u201cUnlike international cricket where games are spread out and tournaments are spread out, the IPL is intense. It\u2019s one, two or three games a week and the scrutiny is more.<\/p>\n
