A MAN has been charged after two men were allegedly run over by a car during a violent incident at Coorabell.<\/p>\n

Emergency services were called to a property on Fowlers Lane about 6.20am on March 20 following reports two people had been struck by a vehicle.<\/p>\n

Police said the two men, aged 38 and 54, were allegedly run over, leaving the older man trapped underneath the car.<\/p>\n

\u201cPolice will allege, the driver exited his vehicle and strangled the 38-year-old man, before driving from the scene,\u201d a NSW Police statement said.<\/p>\n

A passerby provided first aid until NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived.<\/p>\n

The 54 year old man was treated for significant facial and upper body injuries and taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.<\/p>\n

The 38 year old man was treated for head injuries and taken to Tweed Valley Hospital in a serious condition.<\/p>\n

Police arrested a 41 year old man a short time later at Mullumbimby and took him to Byron Bay Police Station.<\/p>\n

Officers seized the vehicle for forensic examination.<\/p>\n

The man was charged with two counts of wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.<\/p>\n

He was refused bail and is due to appear before the Bail Division Court on March 21.<\/p>\n
