{"id":127175,"date":"2026-06-21T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-06-20T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/byroncoasttimes\/?p=127175"},"modified":"2026-06-17T16:46:07","modified_gmt":"2026-06-17T06:46:07","slug":"industry-professionals-inspire-studentsto-pursue-careers-in-film-and-television","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/byroncoasttimes\/news\/industry-professionals-inspire-studentsto-pursue-careers-in-film-and-television\/","title":{"rendered":"Industry professionals inspire studentsto pursue careers in film and television"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>STUDENTS across the region were given a rare behind-the-scenes look at the screen and creative industries as they connected with actors, directors, producers and other industry professionals at Lennox Head.<\/p>\n<p>The Screen Futures 2026: Pathways to Careers in Film and Digital Content Creation saw students from 20 schools take part in workshops and panel discussions.<\/p>\n<p>The event is designed to showcase the wide range of career opportunities available in film, television and digital content production.<\/p>\n<p>It is part of the Regional Industry Education Partnerships program and brought together industry professionals who live and work in the Northern Rivers while contributing to productions across Australia and overseas.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_127181\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-127181\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-127181\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2026\/06\/IMG_2717_49140-1-rotated.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"515\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-127181\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Students had the chance to learn more about the technical side of the industry. Photo: Mitchell Craig.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Director of careers and pathways with the NSW Department of Education Robyn Pemberton said students were exposed to the many career pathways available beyond acting.<\/p>\n<p>They learnt new skills in writing, directing, lighting, sound, editing, pre-production, production, and post-production.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There are so many career opportunities in film, television and content creation,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Some are in front of the camera, but many more are behind the scenes, from special effects and makeup to drone operation and production.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The day included practical workshops covering acting, newsroom presentation, camera operation, special effects and other aspects of film production.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_127182\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-127182\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-127182\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2026\/06\/IMG_2715_50996-1-rotated.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"454\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-127182\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Costume design and makeup was one of the sessions at the event. Photo: Mitchell Craig<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Students Eva Davis and Billy Russo enjoyed the practical side of the experience and spent time in front of the camera and behind the scenes.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ve been working as news reporters with a teleprompter, while other students have been learning camera operation and how to get the right shots,&#8221; Russo said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I enjoy working behind the camera and editing everything together afterwards.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Davis said she enjoyed learning about the roles involved in production.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s amazing to see how much work goes on behind the scenes,&#8221; she said. &#8220;There are so many different jobs, from cameras and special effects to design and drones.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>STUDENTS across the region were given a rare behind-the-scenes look at the screen and creative industries as they connected with actors, directors, producers and other industry professionals at Lennox Head.
