Aleta Moriarty
Occupation: Director at the Centre for Sustainability.
Resides: Belmont.
How long have you lived in your ward? I’ve proudly called this community home for 12 years, living in Belmont and Highton.
Community involvement: I’ve always aimed to make a positive impact, volunteering on Geelong’s Disability Advisory Committee and with refugees for many years. My love of books led me to work for our libraries, organising literary events across the library network. Sustainability is my passion
Associated with a political party or movement? No, I’m not. I haven’t been a political party member for more than 15 years.
Preferencing: Aleta 1, David 2, Ron 3
Campaign budget? Receiving financial assistance? Modest and 100 per cent self-funded, with a genuine grassroots approach. The budget is around $600 to $700.
Three most important issues in your ward? 1. Cost of living and affordable housing. People are struggling, and affordable housing is a top concern. 2. Community services and infrastructure. I’ll fight for expanded childcare services and thriving libraries. 3. Environmental Action and Sustainability. Our community demands real leadership on climate change.
