Five generations of success

Family-Owned Real Estate Agency

HF Richardson's success is built on a long history of innovation in property and livestock sales.

Established as a privately owned family business in 1886 by Horace Frank Richardson (“H.F. Richardson”), the company started trading as a prominent “Stock & Station agency” while also selling fruit, vegetables and poultry and providing formal property valuation services in later years.

Originally operating out of the Exhibition Building in Malop Street, the business grew and soon expanded to Richardson’s Exchange, a building extending from Little Malop Street to Ryrie Street (opposite Market Square).

In 1979 the business moved out of the CBD to its existing premises in Retreat Road, Newtown.

The business has a long history of family dedication as the ownership of the business has transitioned from Horace Richardson to his son Frank Richardson, to his sons John and Peter Richardson and now to John’s son, Will Richardson (present owner and managing director).

In 2019 the business moved into its fifth generation of involvement with Matt Poustie (son of Liza Richardson) joining the firm after seven years of real estate experience in Melbourne.

The Richardson family’s success is built on a long history of innovation in property and livestock sales and a commitment to preserving important, traditional, customer-centric values.

Renowned as being specialists in premium rural and lifestyle properties, their reach now extends well-beyond to include residential home sales in Geelong through Tony Hyde (licensed estate agent) and Matt Poustie (sales manager and licensed estate agent).

Further afield towards Winchelsea and beyond, Ken McDonald (licensed estate agent) holds a large market share, while Will Richardson continues to service his loyal real estate and livestock clients across all areas.
