STEINER education is the world’s largest independent education movement, and it continues to grow. There are more than 50 Steiner schools across Australia.

Freshwater Creek Steiner School is situated on 24 acres of beautiful regenerated Wadawurrung country, right here on the Surf Coast of Victoria.

In an age of digital distractions, Steiner education remains human-centred, recognising that childhood unfolds in distinct developmental stages.

The accredited Australian Steiner Curriculum Framework is carefully designed to meet the needs of each stage, supporting healthy growth and meaningful learning, and aligning with what children are ready for socially, emotionally and intellectually at each age.

The integration of arts and experiential learning is central to the primary school curriculum. Through a balanced program of arts, music, practical crafts, outdoor and environmental education, and a strong focus on wellbeing, personal values and kindness, students learn about themselves and others, and how we can all live together in harmony.

The curriculum is delivered in a child-friendly, human-centred manner that makes learning a joy.

Specialist subjects enhance the Steiner education experience. From prep to class 6, students participate in subjects such as library, handcraft, languages, choir and a strings program from class 3, featuring violin, viola and cello.

Their connection to nature is deepened through outdoor excursions, camps and activities. The year-long farming program, held on the neighbouring biodynamic farm, is a highlight in class 3.

Seasonal festivals and a strong school community further enrich the students’ learning experiences. These celebrations of nature’s rhythms strengthen connections between students, families and teachers, creating a supportive and vibrant environment for learning.

Student wellbeing is a core focus at Freshwater Creek Steiner School. The school ensures students feel safe and supported in their learning journey through differentiated programs.

Art and creativity are woven into everyday learning, giving students space to explore, imagine and express themselves.

The student support team works closely with teachers to ensure every child’s unique needs are considered.

At Freshwater Creek Steiner School, education extends well beyond academic achievement. The school also keeps sight of the wider goal: nurturing young people who can think clearly, communicate well, work with others and meet challenges with initiative and compassion.

Guided by the values of warmth, balance, inclusivity, integrity and vitality, Freshwater Creek Steiner School offers a rich imaginative education that awakens curiosity, wonder and a deep appreciation for the beauty of life.
