Legendary art rock band 10cc are set to dazzle with their ultimate hits in Geelong later this month.

The global hitmakers will be grooving into the Geelong Art Centre’s The Playhouse on July 31 for a show-stopping dance extravanganza.

Among the most inventive and influential bands in the history of popular music, 10cc has sold 30 million albums worldwide and has more than 2 billion streams.

10cc were pop titans in the 1970s, a time when the charts were dominated by some of the most creative and colourful artists in pop history.

The result of their musical mastery were smash hits including Dreadlock Holiday, Good Morning Judge, I’m Not in Love and The Things We Do For Love.

Original vocalist Graham Gouldman puts 10cc’s longevity down to the quality and individuality of the band’s songs.

“They don’t seem to date. We never followed any trend we simple wrote for our own pleasure,” he said.

“The fact that the songs are being played as often on the radio today as they ever were shows how true that is.

“Year on year we get busier and busier. It’s great, we love touring and playing together, and we get on really well.

“The audiences these days are very gratifying. Whether they’ve discovered 10cc for themselves, via the internet or radio, or just grown up with their parents playing it in the house, I don’t know. But we get a great mix of people from the generations.”

10cc’s live band comprises Gouldman on vocals, lead guitarist since 1976 Rick Fenn, drummer and percussionist Paul Burgess (who has played drums with 10cc for more 50 years), keyboardist Keith Hayman (a member of the band since 2006) and lead and backing vocalist Iain Hornal (who has been on stage with 10cc for more than 10 years).

All members of the band will play several instruments throughout the set and everyone will also sing, making it an incredibly diverse and entertaining show.

“The band, as it stands now, is absolutely fantastic,” Gouldham added.

“Our main strength is the songs; nothing else. This is as near as you’re ever going to get to hearing the perfect 10cc. Hit after hit after hit. It’s relentless. We show no mercy.”

Tickets to see 10cc in Geelong are on sale now on the Geelong Arts Centre website.
