A masterclass in resilience

June 16, 2022 BY

Stay informed, but not at the expense of your mental health.

At the LifeChanger Foundation, we are fortunate to run empowering programs for thousands of youth and mentors in Australia and New Zealand.

One of our core objectives is to build resilience in our amazing young participants.

The past few years have been our greatest teacher, an immersive masterclass in resilience.

We’ve all been creating habits to protect and grow our resilience.

Now is the time to double down on those efforts.

Whether it’s the media you consume or the daily movement rituals that keep you mentally and physically well, it’s vital to focus on the resilience-building techniques that can help us create the energy we need to keep moving forward.

Media diet

Stay informed, but not at the expense of your mental health.

Our brains regulate emotions differently during periods of upheaval, so it’s especially vital now to offset our biologic urge to scan for danger (by scrolling, reading, and watching the news).

It’s okay to check the news …but make sure you also unplug. Adopting this practice can keep your mental health and resilience steady during this disruptive time.

Get into your body

Get out of your head and into your body. Movement is often the most efficient path to good mental health.

A short 20-minute walk every day is one of the greatest gifts! Your body was made to move.

We feel better when we’ve honoured it. Get up, get out, get moving!

Gratitude

Gratitude is always a powerful force for good, but with so much challenge and uncertainty surrounding us, it’s never been a more important tool to access every day!

No matter what the challenge is … you’re still standing.

Pat yourself on the back!

Take a few minutes to ask yourself: What am I grateful for with my health? My family? My relationships with others? My work?

And write it all down.

Document your personal victories.

No matter what the challenge is… you’re still standing. Pat yourself on the back!

It can help us feel more resilient to meet life’s challenging moments!

Brighter days ahead

Be an optimist! Your mindset is always a choice.

Life is great but it is also not always fair!

You do get to choose how you view the challenges life throws at you. It’s always up to you!

Choose to be an optimist, someone who remains positive and knows believes that challenges pass and better times and great things are always ahead and worth moving towards!

Lean into the challenges, there’s great things to discover about who we are and what we are capable of during the tougher times! Stay resilient!

Infinite Possibilities,
