The Jazz Soirees Summer Series is returning to Geelong this month with a new twilight setup.

THE Geelong Jazz Soirees Summer Series will return to the Geelong Botanic Gardens this year with a new format.

Events will run on Saturday, February 22 and Saturday, March 1.

The series will introduce a new twilight format while featuring some of Victoria’s most entertaining jazz acts.

Soul Sister Swing will start off the series with their final performance, marking the end of an era for the trio who have been together since 1985.

“There had to be a finish,” the group said in a statement.

“And what better way than a performance at the beautiful Botanic Gardens?”

Festival attendees are encouraged to bring along their own picnic rug and chairs for the events.

The group, made up of Gail, Lynda and Carol, has appeared on The Bert Newton Show, at corporate events and has toured around Australia.

Andy Pobjoy will join them on stage on keys, along with a lineup of other guest singers who have been part of the Soul Sister Swing journey over their career.

The Royal Geelong Jazz Band will take the stage on March 1.

Known for vibrant renditions of jazz and blues, the band has a rich repertoire, playing tributes to the likes of Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole and Louis Armstrong.

Attendees are encouraged to take their own picnics and beverages to enjoy while listening to the magic of live jazz in the lush landscapes of the gardens.

There are some new restrictions around the types of picnic blankets and chairs permitted at the event, with further details available in the FAQ section of the website.

Booking tickets early is recommended with the popularity of the series increasing in past years.
