The winter Central Geelong Kids Fun Guide is your guide to what’s happening online and in Central Geelong these school holidays from Saturday, June 27 to July 12.

The program is a mix of educational and entertaining online and downloadable activities for kids to do at home. Plus, there are some exciting self-guided and small group activities for families to do in Central Geelong that meet COVID-19 social distancing and gathering restrictions.

Here’s some highlights from the Kids Fun Guide.

Central Geelong Kids Treat Hunt
When: Saturday, June 27 to July 12 – Daily
Where: Various locations in Central Geelong
Cost: Free

Download the Kids Treat Hunt trail map, put on your walking shoes (and stretchy pants), and head into Central Geelong. Find the treat clues on the posters (in the windows) of participating businesses. Find all the clues for your chance to WIN $250 worth of vouchers from participating businesses. At each stop the first 100 kids can redeem up to five free treats. That include; a party pie, kids’ ice cream, a protein ball, a hot chocolate and a cup cake. For children aged 3-12 years. Central Geelong Cardboard Challenge @ Home
When: Saturday, June 27 to July 12 – Daily
Where: At home activity
Cost: Free

Children aged 5-12 years are invited to create cardboard versions of Central Geelong buildings or landmarks at home during these school holidays. The aim of the activity is to encourage and foster creativity and community connection in children through building something awesome out of cardboard, recycled materials and their imagination. When complete, take a photo of your build and enter the competition for your chance to win $250 worth of gift vouchers.

The Mik Maks – Working on the Farm

Geelong Arts Centre are offering a free live-streamed concert with the award-winning children’s group The Mik Maks! Joel, Al and Drums the Panda will bring a 45-minute interactive live show to the Geelong Arts Centre’s Facebook Live at 1pm on Saturday, June 27, perfect for children aged 2 – 8 years and their families. We’ve even heard that they’ll be performing some brand-new, never-before-heard songs!

Central Geelong Kids Fun Challenge
When: Saturday, June 27 to July 12 – Daily
Where: Various locations in Central Geelong and the Waterfront
Cost: Free

Grab the family and explore Central Geelong with a 90-minute scavenger hunt in Central Geelong and the Waterfront. Chase down tasks by passing through GPS hotspots or scanning images around town using a smartphone or tablet. Tasks include answering local trivia, shooting videos, taking photos and sending in free form answers. How many points can you score in 90 minutes? All teams competing in the challenge can enter the competition for their chance to win $250 worth of vouchers. Head to centralgeelong.com.au/events/kids-fun-challenge for details.

Cooking Curries
When: July 6 and 13, 3pm-4.30pm

Participate in a unique cultural Sri Lankan cooking experience for the senses. Learn to cook dhal, rice and a yummy hopper. Each child will receive a take home curry pack, recipe and a certificate of participation. The kids will be cooking for you in no time. Suitable for 8-12 years. Limit 6 children per session, all attendees must adhere to social distancing and hygiene requirements.
