Jimmy Rees announces Let’s Get Regional Tour stop in Geelong
Australian comedian and entertainer Jimmy Rees will step out on stage in Geelong next year as part of his Let’s Get Regional tour.
Covering all corners of the country, Rees’ tour was announced last month but has recently added six new shows at stops along the way.
“Regional Australia, I’m coming for you!” Rees said.
“After touring metro cities over the last few years, I couldn’t be more pumped to be bringing a new live show to many local towns around the country where some I’m visiting and performing for the very first time!
“Let’s Get Regional!… shut up, Jason!”
The expansive regional tour follows the success of Rees’s recently completed Not That Kinda Viral tour. What started as a 12-date tour ended up as a with 24-show trip across Australia.
Rees has been entertaining Australians for more than a decade. From 2009-2019 he was the giggle half of ABC’s Giggle & Hoot, with Jimmy Giggle and his sidekick Hoot keeping the nation’s children entertained and getting to bed on time.
In 2019 Rees began his transition into primetime TV as a contestant on Dancing With The Stars.
But it was during the height of the COVID pandemic that Rees emerged as a multi-generational entertainer, releasing comedy content online during the extended Melbourne lockdown and gathering four million social media followers, 43 million likes on TikTok and 200 million viewing minutes last year on Facebook alone.
His Dan Andrews media conference parodies gained more daily viewers than the actual media conferences, and his hilarious social comedy and razor-sharp observational humour resonated with all ages, from The Guy Who Decides (and Jason… shut up Jason!) to the Brighton Ladies to the Meanwhile in Australia series and his POV takes on just about every city and profession.
Jimmy Rees will perform in Let’s Get Regional at Costa Hall on June 22 from 6pm.
