THE St Joesph’s Football Netball Club’s AFL Grand Final Lunch is gearing up for its 2025 return with a powerhouse lineup.
To be held on September 25 in GMHBA Stadium’s Presidents’ Room, this year’s edition of the event features Geelong premiership great Cameron Ling, Brownlow Medallist Adam Cooney and Essendon legend Simon Madden.
St Joseph’s Football Netball Club sponsorship committee member John Watts said the three players would make up a panel for the lunch.
“They played a lot of football at the highest level and won some pretty big accolades, so what they don’t know about football come Grand Final time isn’t probably worth knowing.

“People that want to get involved and know about the lead up to the Grand Final, it’s certainly an interesting way to look into it and think about the grand final and what happens on game day.”
Outside of the football panel, comedian Dave O’Neil will entertain the crowd for the afternoon while Tom King keeps things moving as the MC.
O’Neil is well-known for his appearances on Spicks and Specs and Fisk, and has been doing comedy for more than 25 years.
Watts said the annual event had become a tradition for St Joseph’s and encouraged everyone to get excited and involved with the Grand Final.
“It’s a week where everyone gets out and gets amongst it and gets into the spirit of it, a lot of people actually come from out of town, they’ve heard about it and told friends, it’s certainly got a big following.

“A lot of people are obviously within the club and sponsors, but a lot of people from outside the club and the general public go along and get into the Grand Final spirit.
“It normally gets around 400 plus people there so it’s a pretty big day, everyone’s welcome from different clubs and backgrounds.
Tickets to the lunch are $2,000 plus GST for a table of 10, with a two-course meal and drinks included. A small number of tickets are still available.
The event runs from 11am until 4pm, with an official after party to be announced soon.
