Kustom Timber introduces stunning coastal-inspired collection
Meet the Peninsula Collection – Kustom Timber’s latest engineered timber flooring range, inspired by the unique coastal beauty of the Mornington Peninsula.
“The Peninsula has special meaning to us – it’s been my home since childhood and Tristan now lives in the area too,” said Mark Chaz, who is co-founder of Kustom Timber alongside Tristan Tiller.
“With its jagged coastline, incredible scenery and laid-back, village vibe, there’s something really special about the Peninsula, which is the feeling we set out to capture with this new collection.
“These are rustic floors, full of character, that bring the outdoors right into your home. They’re designed to be walked on, lived in, sandy feet and kids running amok and all – they’ll only get better with age.
“There are four colours in the Peninsula Collection – each named after a location we love hanging out in with our friends and family.”
Interior designer, Gillianne Griffiths of Studio Griffiths, who designed Kustom Timber’s new Mornington showroom and conceived the collection’s names, said: “Drawing inspiration from the beautiful surroundings of the Mornington Peninsula, with its stunning coastal scenery and walking and hiking trails, the names have significant meaning to Mark and Tristan, and seek to engage the imagination and convey an emotional connection to these environments.”
Crafted from European oak, the flooring in the collection is bold and full of character, featuring a refined selection of timber washes, natural knots and grains that bring warmth and texture to a home:
Diamond Bay, a timber with a rich, mocha stain and bold knots and swirls, takes its name from the stunning views over the Bay of Islands and the jagged rocks guarding its entrance
Bushrangers, a warm, mid-tone timber packed with character, is drawn from one of the most scenic coastal walks along the Mornington Peninsula clifftops, and
London Bridge, a timber distinguished by the touch of charcoal in its stain that gives it an urban-meets-rustic edge, is born from the breath-taking rock formations, wild waves and dark, brooding headlands of London Bridge Lookout, and St Andrews is a classically coastal matt-blonde timber with subtle knots and swirls that was inspired by the pristine sand dunes, rock pools and beautiful waters of Bass Strait.
“While these floors are incredibly durable and versatile enough to work with a variety of different interior styles, they are very much designed to be noticed – think of them like an artwork for your home,” Mark said.
The Peninsula Collection flooring comes in two formats: 189x1860x15/4mm planks or 150x900x15/4 herringbone parquetry.
