THE Queenscliff Neighbourhood House is delighted to showcase some of the region’s authors and artists in the exhibition ‘Exploring the Art of Picture Books’.

Kicking off on Saturday, April 22, and showing for six weeks, the exhibition features an impressive selection of multi-award winning pieces of literature and artwork which has a focus on environmental issues and awareness.

Mark Wilson will be on the special guests of the exhibition festival.

Exhibition curator Tracy Watt said the exhibition drew on and showcased the community’s talent while tying in nicely with the Literary Festival.

“We like to be part of the community and draw on them for our shows…. to ultimately detail the way that writing illustrates art, and the way that art illustrates writing,” Mrs Watt said.

“This year we’ve got the Literary Festival again in May and this ties in really nicely with that.

“The theme for the festival is ‘time to think’…. with the problem of climate change certainly front of mind.

“We put it on for the first time last year, however we didn’t have a long run up, so we weren’t able to link into it all into the literary festival like we have this year.

“Small communities like us are about people all working together for everyone… we are just delighted to bring this to the community.”

I’m A Nipper Now by Sally Cordner and illustrated by Lucy Simms.
Hope is the Thing by Johanna Bell and Erica Wagner.

The exhibition opens on April 22, and closes May 28.
