A pair of Geelong locals have banded together with the goal of supporting children with emotional regulation and bedtime challenges through the release of their new book.

Kerri Lee Ludlow a clinical hypnotherapist and counsellor at Calm Minds Clinic and Tabitha Thompson, co-director of the clinic, released Bunny & Deer’s Forest Adventure earlier this month.

Illustrated by Isobel Erkelens, the book follows the story of a bunny and deer as they journey through meadows and learn the strength found in kindness, friendship and staying grounded.

Written for children, the story is designed to be read before a specially created hypnotherapy sleep audio, accessed by a QR code in the book.

The recently published book was created to bring help children regulate around bedtime challenges.

“Many families struggle with bedtime,” Ms Thompson said.

“This project was created to bring relaxation, safety and a sense of calm to children – using the power of storytelling and therapeutic strategies.”

Bunny & Deer’s Forest Adventure was officially launched on May 18, with more than 50 people joining the authors to celebrate.

“There’s something really special about creating a book that you know will help kids feel safe, calm and ready for rest,” Ms Thompson said.

“Seeing the community embrace the message so wholeheartedly was incredible.”

Among the launch’s special guests were Lee and Keith from TV series Gogglebox Australia.

Ms Thompson said the event was an absolute success.

“There was a warm, buzzing energy in the room as guests enjoyed a live reading of the book, a book signing and the chance to hear more about why we created Bunny & Deer’s Forest Adventure in the first place.”

A silent auction also took place on the day with the original hand-painted illustrations on offer, raising close to $300 for the Calm Mind Clinic’s free therapy initiative.
