New York sound lands on the Surf Coast

AFTER a sold-out 2025 season, the Sound Doctor will launch into 2026 by bringing acclaimed New York musicians Hannah Cohen and Sam Evian to the Anglesea stage.

The pair will perform at Anglesea Memorial Hall on Friday, February 27, making their Australian debut and bringing their lush, meditative sound to the Surf Coast.

Appearing as part of the Flying Cloud tour, Cohen will perform songs from her 2025 album Earthstar Mountain, produced by Evian and her first release in five years. The album reflects on themes of love, loss and interconnection, drawing inspiration from artists including Dusty Springfield, Sly and The Family Stone and Neil Young.

The release also features contributions from fellow New York musicians Sufjan Stevens and Clairo and has been described as a love letter to Cohen’s new home.

The February performance follows a strong 2025 season for the Sound Doctor, which featured sold-out shows and a mix of international and local talent.
