Get ready for a night of non-stop laughs with some of the country’s best female comedians next month at the Potato Shed.

Coming in hot at the Potato Shed in Drysdale on July 9, Women of Wit 2023 will bring together top Australians comedians including the legendary Cal Wilson (The Great Australian Bake Off, Spicks and Specks, the Gala), powerhouse comic Nicky Barry (The Nasty Show), up and coming teenage sensation Patti Fawcett (Class Clowns) and inspiring transgender comedian Daisy Webb (Joy – Melbourne Comedy Festival) for hours of fun and laughs.

The event, which will return to the Potato Shed for the second year running, will also include a series of local comedians who are yet to be announced.

Women of Wit returns to the Potato Shed on July 9.

Potato Shed venue manager Rob MacLeod said the night of wit would be one sure not to miss.

“We are expecting another big one after the success of last year.

“It’s a terrific lineup of comedians once again and we are thrilled to also have some local up and comers joining us as well.

“It’s always a good night and is very affordable for cabaret style.

“We all need a good laugh and we can guarantee that!”

Performing for her first time at the Potato Shed, Bendigo performer Patti Fawcett said joining the Women of Wit team for 2023 would be quite a unique experience.

Bendigo based teenage comic Patti Fawcett will perform at the Potato Shed for the very first time.

“It’s pretty exciting and unique for me because I’ll be sharing the stage with people that I grew up watching on my TV.

“I’ve watched Cal Wilson pretty closely and always wondered how she does what she does, so to be alongside her is pretty cool.

“My persona on stage is everyone’s nervous teenager, and I chat a lot about my family and all the things that come across as a bit awkward.

“It’s a really exciting gig to be part of and I can’t wait for it.”

Mr MacLeod hoped the all-star cast of comedians would help to put female comedy on the map within the region.

“There is some fantastic female comics out there, but they don’t get a lot of stage time.

“We are really happy to support it by hosting this event.

“It’ll be a hoot and we can’t wait to have a good giggle again.”

Since 2018, the Women of Wit show has inspired new comedians to the stage and delivered great headliners, including Geraldine Hickey, Alex Ward, Danielle Walker, Emma Holland, Kirsty Webeck, and Claire Hooper.

The night is produced by Comedy Victoria, with support from Mulqueen Creative and Print, Tough Cookie Marketing, and Emporium Creative Hub.
