Barwon Heads Family Practice is hosting a Menopause Day later this month.

The practice has created the event in the hope it can offer a mature, informative, and vibrant conversation to the community around the value of receiving a thorough understanding of what support is available for them during this phase of life.

Presentations will aim to “expand everyone’s perspective from hot flushes to truly holistic healthcare”.

According to the Australasian Menopause Society, every woman will be affected by menopause in some way, either experiencing symptoms or other physical changes.

The average age of menopause is 51 years but some women enter menopause earlier.

The 10 speakers at the Barwon Heads event are from a variety of specialised providers and have been specially chosen to discuss all the elements of change that can occur that require nurturing throughout this biological transition.

As part of the event, several allied health services will host information stalls to talk to attendees one on one and offer demonstrations on certain supportive techniques.

There are also more than $2,000 worth of donations ready to be auctioned, with all funds raised going towards a specialised opportunity for this demographic to promote healthy movement, minds and social connections.

All attendees will receive a goody bag valued at $100 filled with information and samples of relevant products and services from local providers

The event will take place at Barwon Heads Community Hall, 77 Hitchcock Avenue, Barwon Heads on May 25 from 11.30am to 2.30pm.

Tickets are $49 for individual entry, $90 for two people, or $500 for a table of 12.
