Shed gets innovative

May 14, 2020 BY

Damon Smith and Dave Cosma will perform via livestream on May 22.

The Potato Shed is staying true to the City of Greater Geelong’s “clever and creative” vision, with the venue pivoting to livestreaming following the cancellation of its 2020 theatre season.

Since April 3, Ocean Grove based audio and video company Bellarine AV has livestreamed the bird bath in the courtyard for “Bird Bath Cam” sessions, and the Shed staff have programmed regular Friday afternoon gigs.

Every Friday this month, live music (as well as the live soundtrack of the birds at the birdbath) will be streamed free to viewers and listeners.

Tomorrow (May 15) will see The Gems play from 4pm, with Joseph Stanaway stealing the show at 12.30pm on Friday, May 29 to start your weekend right.

Special guests Damon Smith and Dave Cosma (Sun Rising, the story of Sun Studios the hit show from the 2019 Season) are also coming up on the program, performing the greatest hits recorded at Memphis’ Sun Studios from 4pm on Friday, May 22.

Damon said he and Dave were excited to return to the Potato Shed with an “uplugged version” of their show.

“This time, we’ll be bringing you a special unplugged version of our show about the history of Sun Records: The Songs that Made Memphis.

“For one whole hour, you’ll hear songs and stories from the show by Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis Presley and many more legends from Sun Records, with a dose of humour to spice things up.”
