Songs, stars and spooks at the Potato Shed

AS THE end of the year approaches, the Potato Shed celebrates four decades of the Victorian Seniors Festival; creates some spooky Halloween fun for the young and young-at-heart and prepares to launch its 2023 season.

The 40th anniversary of Victorian Seniors Festival kicks off with a high-octane award-winning dystopian cyberpunk circus, Barbaroi, on Saturday, October 1.

Fresh Creative bring the world premiere of Relate to the black box theatre on October 6, examining the intimate connections within an urban Australian social circle.

Australia’s own Piano Man John Watson celebrates the “Legends of Vegas” on October 8. From Rachmaninoff to rock and all genres between, you’re in for a rollicking night of classic songs.

The Mike Walsh Show made her a star of ’70s Australian television, and Australian playwright Kieran Carroll puts Gold Logie winner Jeanne Little front and centre in his latest play, Dahlin! It’s Jeanne Little on October 16.

The popularly unelected Damian Callinan will slip on the mayoral robes and cast his comedic eye over Drysdale when Callinan presents Mayor for a Day on October 20.

The Potato Shed is thrilled to announce the return of its double-header free Halloween spooktacular, Spookfest, on October 29 and October 30.

There will be a few spooky surprises for the adults on Saturday night, including a sneak-peak of the Haunted House, a screening of a Hollywood classic and suitably spooky-themed cocktails to imbibe.

Then on Sunday, the family-friendly celebrations include Halloween-themed games, food trucks and entertainment.

Dame Julie Andrews, one of the greatest performers of all time is celebrated in Practically Perfect: the Julie Andrews Story. Presented by HiT Productions, the November 12 performance features all of the hits from Mary Poppins, My Fair Lady, The Sound of Music and Victor Victoria.

Relate will have its world premiere on October 6.

The Potato Shed season launch returns to the first Wednesday in December. The launch is a highlight of the year and always books out. Avoid disappointment by securing your spot today.

Resident theatre company Theatre 3triple2 return with the annual 12×12 Plays on December 12. Local writers and performers from across the Bellarine showcase 12 original plays, each 12 minutes long.
