Step inside the vision of Greenhouse Interiors

February 17, 2023 BY

The showroom stretches over two floors in the heart of Geelong.

After a decade of styling and writing for magazines as well as representing more than 100 creatives, it was only a matter of time before Julia and Adam Green of Greenhouse Interiors would open a physical space to house their vast, colourful display of art and homewares.

“After running an exceptionally popular online business for 10 years, it felt like the right time to create our own unique concept space to enhance our online business,” Adam said.

The more pertinent and pressing question, though, was where?

“It was an exhaustive hunt that lasted for almost two years,” Adam admitted.

But when the couple found an old heritage building in the heart of burgeoning Geelong on Ryrie Street, they knew it was the place they would call home for their much-loved brand.

“As the second largest regional town in Australia (and fastest growing), we felt it was time to add some spice, colour and new style to this town,” Julia said.

“We wanted to create a destination for people to come and feel like they had just walked into the door or their dream home, where every single touch point was shoppable. And we wanted to save them driving down the highway to Melbourne!”

Partnering with many local makers, shakers and creators, the couple set about their most ambitious endeavour yet: to create a retail footprint that would show everyone that walks in the door exactly how to style their space full of colour, texture and style. “We don’t do grey,” Julia remarked.

“We are big believers that style is not bought. Although we do represent some high-end bands, and house an amazing original art collection – including Ken Done – we felt it was important to share with our community ways to live true to their own style, with expert advice to help them decide exactly where to bomb the budget,” Julia said.

And as one of the country’s most celebrated stylists, the author of the best-selling book on colour (Vivid: Style in Colour, Hardie Grant Books), sure knows exactly how to do it.

With all of the exciting new developments in Geelong right now, from amazing new eateries to high-density urban developments, the arrival of Spirit of Tasmania and the Commonwealth Games, this is one couple that may just have invested in the right community at the right time.

If you have not visited this showroom over two floors in the heart of Geelong yet, we suggest you add it to your to-do list and pronto. Geelong is exceptionally lucky to be the recipient for this most beautiful, inspirational and entirely shoppable interiors and art hub.
