Port Phillip ferries is changing the way daily commuters head into Melbourne from the Bellarine, offering an alternative transport option.

Trading the car for the ferry, commuters will spend less time stuck in traffic and be able to enjoy a coffee from the on-board café, as they make their way into Docklands.

Port Phillip Ferries marketing manager Brad Wright encourages commuters to make the switch and take the stress and chaos out of their mornings.

“We have seen quite a bit of increase in patronage, it’s becoming more and more popular in the last 6 months,” he said.

“It’s great to see more people using the ferry and cars coming off the road and helping to take some congestion off the Westgate Freeway.”

While on board, travellers will have access to free wi-fi and large laptop tables as well as a guaranteed seat for their 70-minute morning journey.

The ferry offers comfortable indoor and outdoor seating for travellers to sit back and enjoy the scenery as they travel.

Standard size bicycles are allowed on board for passengers to complete the rest of their journey after arriving in Docklands, alternatively, Southern Cross Station isn’t far away for commuters to catch a tram or train into other parts of Melbourne.

The Portarlington ferry service leaves at 7:15AM weekdays arriving in Melbourne at 8:25AM, perfect for those heading into the office or spending a day around the city.
