TARRA Queenscliff is the new hero destination venue for the Bellarine Peninsula

October 6, 2023 BY

In April, Searoad Ferries officially opened its new passenger terminal facility

in Queenscliff on the Bellarine Peninsula, located just 30 minutes from Geelong and 90 minutes from Melbourne.

The opening of this new hero destination venue TARRA Queenscliff, which includes a restaurant, café, retail, ticketing, guest lounge and versatile function spaces, is a significant achievement after 15 years of planning.

The new state-of-the-art, multi-million-dollar ferry terminal provides a world-class transport experience for guests travelling across Melbourne’s famed Port Phillip Bay.

The Searoad Ferries car and passenger ferry services the busy route between Queenscliff and Sorrento, on the southern tip of Victoria’s Port Phillip Bay.

It’s Australia’s busiest vehicle ferry service with more than 8,700 crossings annually, carrying more than 950,000 passengers.

Melbourne architect Franco Fiorentini and his team at F2 Architecture designed the impressive building, which nestles into the coastline, drawing shapes from the surrounding environment and historic buildings.

The interior of the new facility is light and airy, featuring dramatic three-metre-high ceilings and stunning feature lighting.

It houses a concierge counter and retail gift store on the ground floor, along with a modern restaurant — headed up by executive chef Michael Demagistris — which is set to offer an exciting new dining experience from October 2023.

The first floor features a passenger lounge with multiple seating areas and the sweeping bay views provide a club lounge feel like no other.

The gangway connects the ferry to the passenger lounge. At the western end, there are light filled function spaces serviced by two bars, perfect for private events, meetings, conferences, and other gatherings.

The new Queenscliff Ferry Terminal is set to become an iconic tourism precinct and events venue with this redevelopment.
