The Smith Street Band celebrate 15 years with a Torquay show.

The Smith Street band are currently performing a string of shows to celebrating their 15 years together.

The band will bring their anniversary tour to the stage at the Torquay Hotel on April 20.

Forming in 2009, they played their first performance in Melbourne and have since entertained over 800 crowds around the globe.

Lead singer Will Wagner said it’s a blessing to have been doing it for 15 years.

“We’ve been able to travel the world, make countless lifelong friends, share stages with some of the best bands of our generation and play some incredible venues and festivals.

“We’re going to be putting all that excitement and nostalgia into our set for this tour, playing songs off every album and trying to give something back to all the incredible Smithies fans old and new.”

Wagner said seeing people sing along to the words he has written is a special feeling.

“We’ve been able to achieve things beyond our wildest dreams like playing big festivals and travelling overseas but the thing I’m probably most proud of is probably how much some of our songs have connected with people.”

The five-person group has played at some of Australia’s most well-known festivals including Splendour in The Grass, Groovin the Moo, Big Day Out and more.

The band have had five studio albums and three live albums in the ARIA Album chart, they’ve also had six of their tracks in triple J’s Hottest 100.

Their 18-date tour sees them travel around the country before heading down to Torquay.

“We really love playing at the Torquay Hotel, we’ve done it a few times over the last few years and it’s always a really fun show and great place to hang out.”
