Grinspoon frontman Phil Jamieson is heading to Geelong this winter, bringing his new solo tour to the Eureka Hotel as he prepares to release his second solo album 10Charlie.

Jamieson will play the Geelong venue on 4 July as part of his newly announced PJ AIR tour, a 40-plus-date run through pubs, theatres and regional venues across Australia.

“PJ AIR is a BIG adventure,” he said. “My co-pilot is Ricky Albeck and I can’t wait to play for you all.

“Songs will be sung, and stories will be told.”

The PJ AIR run will see Jamieson perform new songs from 10Charlie alongside fan favourites spanning his career with Grinspoon and his solo catalogue.

The tour announcement arrives alongside the release of Jamieson’s new single Weekends, the first taste of 10Charlie, due out on 14 August.

Known for helping shape Australia’s alternative rock scene through the late 1990s and 2000s, Jamieson said the new material leaned into personal storytelling and reflection.

“Weekends. It’s a destination. It’s a place among the tall pines. It’s a restaurant, bar, coffee shop, diner,” he said.

“You can go to Weekends on a Monday. It’s a place to agree or disagree.

“The song is built around intimacy and hope – and it has some fun guitars.”

Jamieson described 10Charlie as his most personal record to date.

“This album is much more personal than my first record,” he said. “In times of intense turbulence, I’ve written what I’ve needed to hear.

“It’s a balm for my soul. 10Charlie is a boarding pass. You are not in the exit row; your luggage can be stored under the seat in front of you. Please follow all cabin crew directions and fasten your seat belt for take-off.”
