Youth TV series debuts in Geelong

August 26, 2023 BY

An exciting new series spearheaded by children and teens across Victoria kicked its first episode in the heart of Geelong.

Twelve directors aged ten to fifteen years old are behind the making of artbusTV, a series showcasing youth led conversations and creative expressions in regional areas of Victoria.

The Artists for Kids Culture project engaged children and young media lovers who would otherwise miss out on opportunities due to geographic, social and financial reasons.

The series provides a platform for self-expression, connection and exploration of television production and presentation in regional areas of the state.

The first episode in Geelong, which premiered on August 8, features interviews with Wadawurrung Cultural Educator, Ash Skinner and young Geelong actor Ilsa Fogg, who recently starred in the Australian drama film, Blueback.

Episode one crew members Marley and Kaiya said launching the series in Geelong was incredibly exciting.

“I have loved every single moment. I have learned so much and have met a lot of wonderful people whilst doing so,” Marley from the artsbusTV Geelong crew said.

“I usually associate the TV with important people from the news, and famous actors in movies, so to be in a show that’s on TV just feels really strange. It has been such a great opportunity that I’ve really enjoyed being a part of, and I love the end result.”

“I had lots of fun and enjoyed being in front of the camera and interviewing Ilsa Fogg,” fellow crew member Kaiya said.

The creation of the Geelong artsbusTV episode was facilitated by Artists for Kids Culture and proudly supported by The City of Greater Geelong and RM Ansett Trust.

The artsbusTV series will soon travel to Melbourne, Morwell, Mildura, Springvale and Rosebud.
