800 descend on 14th Lara Fun Run

THE biggest turnout ever at the Lara Fun Run has capped off a stellar return for the annual community event.

PB Events stated 800 residents and visitors attended the annual community run, taking in Lara’s beautiful landscapes.

Runners and walkers participated in the 10km and 5km courses on the day, in addition to the shorter 1km Kids Dash, offering an achievable alternative to participating children.

Shane Mallia was too quick for Trent Bowles as he breezed his way to a 10km male win with a time of 35:49.

Alana Plymin secured top sport on the podium in the 10km female field, reaching the finish line in 40 minutes flat.

Junior male athlete Samual Duncan was the quickest 5km runner on Sunday, finishing his run in 17:12.

Emily McGuane’s 21:36 was the top time in the 5km female field.

Each competitor received finisher medals and a personalised certificate with the official finishing time, pace and place.

Sunday marked the 14th time the Lara Fun Run was held north of Geelong.
