THE recent merger of AWA Mutual and Beyond Bank Australia marks a significant milestone, uniting two community-focused banks dedicated to making a positive local impact.

This merger enhances their ability to support local communities, including those in Geelong and regional Victoria.

Beyond Bank is one of Australia’s largest customer-owned banks. For more than 60 years, they’ve been changing the lives of their customers and communities through financial wellbeing.

Beyond Bank provides personal, business and community banking to about 300,000 customers and has more than 50 branches across Australia, including branches in Geelong, Portland and Warrnambool.

Like AWA Mutual, Beyond Bank is a certified B Corp, meeting the highest global standards of overall social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability.

Beyond Bank is 100 per cent owned by its customers, so profits are used to benefit customers through better rates, fairer fees, responsible lending, and superior customer service.

Beyond Bank Stadium rebrand

As part of this exciting merger, Beyond Bank announced AWA Mutual’s community partnerships will be extended until 2027, with recipients including Give Where You Live, Geelong Connected Communities, and Geelong United Basketball.

Geelong United Basketball’s Belmont Stadium has undergone a rebrand and will now be known as Beyond Bank Stadium, with distinct purple colours rejuvenating the stadium.

“We’re delighted to continue to partner with Geelong United Basketball to make a positive impact in the community,” Beyond Bank Geelong community development manager Cameron Murnane said.

“We recognise the importance of sport and its place in our local community.

“We know that sporting clubs are where people come together to connect and participate, which leads to stronger, healthier, and safer communities.”

The partnership will support Geelong United Basketball’s work to create opportunities for players, fans and the wider community, continuing to foster a strong, vibrant sports culture.

“Geelong United Basketball is proud to partner with Beyond Bank for the next three years to enhance community sport in the Geelong region, supporting the growth of basketball and empowering local talent,” Geelong United Basketball general manager of partnerships Connie Bolger said.

This merger marks a new chapter of community support, ensuring the people of Geelong benefit from the combined resources of Beyond Bank and AWA Mutual.
