Wine lovers are encouraged to get their tickets fast for the highly anticipated annual Winter Shiraz Festival – a celebration of Geelong Shiraz.

The wine wonderland, which takes place this weekend, will invite people from across the Greater Geelong region to enjoy two days of beautiful wine, food and entertainment and bask in the midwinter glow at more than participating wineries.

“This is the seventh year of running the festival at our wineries and we are excited to welcome locals and visitors to our beautiful wineries,” Wine Geelong executive and events manager Jo Wealands said.

“Attendees will have the opportunity to try the best cool climate Shiraz from a range of locations and enjoy the wide range of events that will take place across the region during the weekend.

“There will be something for everyone and we truly can’t wait to get the event rolling.”

The program across the wineries will include feasts of food and wine experiences, gourmet produce, local music and wine masterclasses.

Many of the events at participating wineries will also include the chance to “meet the makers” with knowledgeable producers taking visitors through a choice of wine-making processes.

The Bellarine Peninsula’s oldest winery, Scotchmans Hill, will be marking the Winter Shiraz event with a signature three-course winemakers’ lunch with chief award-winning winemaker Robin Brockett as well as a Shiraz tasting masterclass.

Scotchmans Hill will also hold a Shiraz masterclass this weekend with new and aged Shiraz available for tasting and purchase.

Ticketholders will be able to enjoy an intimate French inspired three course lunch curated by head chef Andrea Brown while taking in the breathtaking views of the bay with a glass of Shiraz in hand.

Winemakers from Scotchmans Hill will match each course of the lunch with new and aged wines suitable for each meal.

“It’s going to be great to have everyone around the vineyards during the Winter Shiraz festival and showcase the wonderful Shiraz the region boosts,” chief winemaker at Scotchmans Hill Robin
Brockett said.

“We will feature a range of our Shiraz wines during the weekend of celebrations with current wines mixed with some of our best aged wines being apart of our lunch and shiraz masterclass session.

“Usually our lunch event and the Shiraz masterclass are hits with the public and we hope that tickets continue to sell fast.”

Visitors will be able to buy a range of wines on the day, including the 2019 Scotchmans Hill Shiraz, which was ranked in the top 100 wines in the country last year.

Scotchmans Hill will also be open for general wine tasting on the day.

Bookings for all events across the region are essential.
