RESIDENTS of Little River, Lara and its surrounds are invited to learn more about the proposed Little River Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at two information sessions.

ACEnergy is proposing to build a 350MW BESS on an 18-hectare site in Little River.

The project will aim to help make electricity supply more reliable, and subsequently create more jobs for local tradespeople.

The sessions will be held at the Lara Golf Club tomorrow (Friday, September 20) and Saturday (September 21).

ACEnergy development manager Danny Wilkinson invited community members to have their say.

“We are looking forward to meeting members of the local community and discussing our proposed project, as well as the potential for community benefit initiatives,” he said

“We are committed to the local area and bringing this project to life to strengthen the local and regional electricity network.

“If people can’t make it on the two days, we encourage them to get in touch and we can organise one-on-one briefings. We want to make sure everyone has access to the correct information.”

Located next to a quarry, the site has been selected to minimise environmental impact and maximise existing energy transmission infrastructure.

ACEnergy says the site has easy access to a transmission line, making it ideally placed to provide the lowest-cost, lowest-impact option for supporting stable, renewable energy for the state.
