THE Australian Defence Force (ADF) announced this morning (Friday, April 28) that some of its personnel will conduct military training for much of next month “in the greater Geelong region and on the Bellarine Peninsula”.

Details are scant, but the ADF says the training will run between Monday, May 1 and May 19 and be conducted during daytime and night-time hours.

“The public should not be alarmed if they see or hear military vehicles, watercraft, unmanned aerial systems and military personnel carrying weapons,” the ADF stated.

Blank ammunition and pyrotechnics will be used during some aspects of the training.

“People who see or hear the training should not be concerned,” the ADF stated,

“This essential training is vital to maintain Australia’s world-class military capability.”

The ADF stated it would not provide any more information about the training, including timings or locations, “in order to protect operational tactics, techniques and procedures”.
