AGFG voters love Geelong restaurants
MORE than a score of restaurants in Geelong have won the popular vote in this year’s Australian Good Food Guide (AGFG) Readers’ Choice Awards.
The awards, announced annually, are designed to give the Australian public the opportunity to vote for their favourite establishments throughout the year.
There were 28 awards presented to restaurants across the Geelong and the Bellarine Peninsula region.
Diners voted Geelong restaurant Alma as having the best South American dishes.
The Ryrie Street venue describes its fare as “a contemporary and inventive take on South American cuisine”, with a menu carefully crafted to showcase the diverse culinary traditions found across the continent and inspired by Latino spices, herbs, and cooking techniques.

American – Armstrong Barbecue in Mount Duneed
Asian – Baah Lah! Dining in Geelong West
Breakfast – Pakington Pantry in Newtown
Burger – Burger Plus Geelong in Geelong
Cafe – Cafe Go and House Iberia, both in Geelong
Chinese – Oh Dumping in East Geelong
Coffee – Eddy and Wills Cafe in Hamlyn Heights
French – Felix in Geelong
Fusion – Frankie Bar & Eatery in Geelong
Indian – Eastern Spice in Geelong
Italian – Caruggi Italian in Geelong
Japanese – Sakuratei Japanese Cuisine in Manifold Heights
Mexican – El Santo Geelong in Geelong
Middle Eastern – The Arborist in Geelong
Modern Australian – The Yardz in Geelong
Pub Food – Valley Inn Hotel in Geelong
Region – Centra Hotel in Geelong
Seafood – The Geelong Boat House in Geelong
Steak – Parkers Steakhouse Geelong in Geelong
Thai – Arani Thai Restaurant in Geelong, and
Vegan – Feast Geelong in East Geelong
There were also three regional awards, with the Geelong Cellar Door Wine Bar & Store winning the Bars category.
Each establishment’s AGFG listing has a ‘Vote Now’ button. The establishment with the most votes in their respective category and region over a 12-month period will win a Readers’ Choice Award, with awards broken up by establishment type and region.
