A 56-APARTMENT complex has been approved for construction in Geelong West.

Located at 51-53 Hope Street and 66-76 Autumn Street, the $60 million Hope & Autumn development will feature two buildings, ranging between one and four storeys.

Designed by Austin Maynard Architects (AM.A), the project emphasises thoughtful, sustainable, and heritage-sensitive design.

“I was born and raised in Geelong, and I’m incredibly proud that Austin Maynard Architects is contributing to a medium-density apartment project of this calibre in the region,” AM.A’s Sophie Whittakers said.

“Our aim is to create an exemplar that demonstrates apartments are not merely stepping stones, but truly viable forever homes.”

UP Property managing director Marcus Jankie said securing planning approval for Hope & Autumn was testament to the collaborative effort between UP Property, Austin Maynard Architects, and the Geelong West community.

“We have worked closely with the community to achieve an outcome that not only revitalises this key site but also opens up new opportunities for residents,” he said.

“Our commitment to delivering a truly sustainable development for future generations runs deep, and we are excited to bring this vision to life.”

Tract Consultants led the planning approval process via the Victorian government’s new Development Facilitation Program.

“Geelong is envisaged to accommodate a further 128,600 dwellings by 2051, with 77,500 homes intended to be delivered in established areas,” Tract Consultants senior principal town planner Nick Clements said.

“Geelong is crying out for positive examples of in-fill housing.

“We are proud to see the project’s outstanding planning and design merits recognised by the State Government, the Office of the Victorian Government Architect and the City of Greater Geelong.

“The project’s innovative design, focus on expansive landscaping, environmental credentials and site-responsive design ensured a seamless planning approval process.”
