Barwon Heads Community Bank: Happy 10th birthday to us

September 8, 2022 BY

Bank treasurer Chris McDonald presents $5,000 scholarships to Heidi Bakker and Daisy McNeilly.

This month marks 10 years since Barwon Heads Community Bank was opened.

It seems hard to believe that something that is such a part of our community didn’t exist 10 years ago.

Barwon Heads Community Bank not only gives you access to award-winning financial products and services, it’s also committed to returning profits to locals.

Community Bank branches give up to 80 per cent of profits back to the community. We aim to develop long-term prosperity by supporting programs that help empower local individuals and groups within the local community.

Our Legacy Projects include supporting 100% Clean Bellarine and Barwon Heads Primary School in 2019 with $70,000 of seed funding to transition to renewable energy; assisting with the restoration and future operational planning of the Lobster Pot; the Bellarine Catchment Network’s Gardens for Wildlife educational program designed to increase biodiversity and wildlife affinity in our very own backyards; and stage one of the Barwon Estuary Project towards the objective of a Plastic Free Barwon Heads

We have now provided more than $770,000 in sponsorships to local individuals and groups.

There are so many people to thank who have helped make the Barwon Heads Community Bank your preferred bank.

Firstly, the team who worked so hard to establish and prove the business case for a Community Bank here in Barwon Heads, the original Board and all board members who have subsequently helped the branch grow and develop.

All of the branch team, who have strived to serve our community and assist our customers with their financial services.

And finally to our customers and our community. The support you have provided to the branch by doing your personal and business banking with us is very much appreciated.

Because of this, over the past 10 years our Barwon Heads Community Bank has been able to support 31 different community groups with more than $770,000. That is a massive achievement, and it helps us create lasting and meaningful impacts for our communities.

Thanks again to our branch team, all of our board members and you – our customers and community! Here’s to another fabulous 10 years!
