Barwon Water launches scavenger hunt for school holidays
BARWON Water has launched an activity for families over the school holidays.
The free activity takes participants over Geelong’s cultural precinct with a water scavenger hunt.
Children and their families will visit the Geelong Arts Centre, Johnstone Park, Geelong Library and Heritage Centre and more as they make their way around the map solving the clues.
Barwon Water general manager of customers, community and strategy Laura Kendall said the scavenger hunt will lead participants to new discoveries and insights.
“The activity shows the continuing connection of Wadawurrung Traditional Owners to their Country and its lands, sky and water, shares some of Geelong’s water story and invites families to find water-inspired artworks (at Geelong Gallery) and books (at Geelong Library and Heritage Centre).”
The activity is suitable for kids aged seven and over with some adult help and supervision and is estimated to take around an hour to complete.
“Our team looks forward to assisting families in their scavenger hunt and hope it will provide an opportunity for families to enjoy the things Geelong Library and Heritage Centre has to offer over the school holidays,” Geelong Regional Libraries chief executive officer Vanessa Schernickau.
Ms Kendall said the launch of the activity also coincided with World Water Day on March 22.
“This global event, designated by the United Nations, aims to raise awareness about water-related issues and inspire action to ensure access to clean water for all.
“It serves as an opportunity to celebrate the vital role that water plays in our lives, ecosystems, and economies, while also highlighting the challenges we face in safeguarding this precious resource for future generations.”
Participants are encouraged to take part in the scavenger hunt during business hours, so they can find answers inside some of the buildings.
