Bellarine Peninsula theatre company celebrate 500 shows
BELLARINE PENINSULA small theatre company Theatre 3triple2 will celebrate their 500th show in the second week of the school holidays, marking a successful 18 year journey of performing pantomime for children and their families in the Greater Geelong region.
The Thursday, September 29, performance of original play ‘Submarine Adventures’, written by local performer Alysha Kitchingman, will be the 500th show undertaken by the Theatre 3triple2 team and will celebrate the rich history of the business.
Theatre 3triple2 has produced shows at The Potato Shed, Drysdale, since 2004 and have been lighting up children’s eyes with their performances of both original and well known plays including Little Red Riding Hood, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Rapunzel and many more.
The theatre company produces three main shows annually, each with eight performances which usually show during school holidays.
Theatre 3triple2 secretary Chris Reynolds said the milestone fills their managers, producers and performers with pride.
“It’s a significant effort and a proud moment to say that our small amateur theatre company has been able to persevere and showcase 500 shows for the children and families of Geelong and the Bellarine,” Reynolds said.
“An amazing part of celebrating these milestones is the stories that go with it. We are now welcoming parents who came here as children who are now bringing their own kids, and mothers who are now bringing their grandchildren.
“It’s great that our work has gone full circle and that people can come, have an interactive experience and see some fun-loving theatre.”
Theatre 3triple2 team members are also marking another significant milestone, being part of 400 shows.
“It’s been a real team effort across the board from all members, particularly Susana Nicholls and Kerrie Reynolds who have acted, stage managed and directed over 400 of our shows in the last 18 years,” Reynolds said.
“We are thrilled to make it to all these huge milestones and it’s people like them who make it all happen.”
