SECONDARY students from across the Geelong region are encouraged to create an artwork which could become an award for a Barwon Best Care Award winner this year.

Each year, Barwon Health presents the Barwon Best Care Awards to celebrate the incredible work of staff, delivering the highest quality care to every patient, every day.

Barwon Health director public affairs Kate Bibby said the awards recognised excellence in safety, quality, education and innovation.

“After another year of living with COVID-19, where a lot of life has become consumed with screens and electronics, we felt it would be a great opportunity for Geelong youth to get ‘hands on’ creative and help us celebrate the achievements of our staff’,” Ms Bibby said.

“This new initiative invites students from high schools in the region to produce a piece of artwork, with inspiration drawn from one of the five Barwon Health values of respect, compassion, commitment, accountability and innovation.

“An internal judging panel will evaluate the submissions and the winning pieces will be turned into awards for the Barwon Best Care award winners.

“Presenting this year’s Barwon Best Care Awards winners with an award that has been thoughtfully designed and created by our local young people, reinforces what providing the best care to our community it all about,” she said.

“We’re very excited to see the artwork that is submitted and thank everyone who takes the time and effort to enter the competition.”

Artworks will be displayed within Barwon Health and the winning entrants will receive a prize to support them to continue their art studies.

The competition is open to any students from Year seven to 12 in the Geelong region and more information for entrants is available on the Barwon Health website.
