APPLICATIONS have opened for the 2024 Business Accelerator scholarship, with 10 spots up for grabs for women in the business world.

Sponsored by the City of Greater Geelong and run by Business in Heels, the scholarships help women turn their business dreams into reality.

Geelong mayor Trent Sullivan said the scholarship was a valuable opportunity for savvy local women to learn from experienced mentors.

“To women toying with the idea of starting a new business or making an existing one more profitable, the 2024 Business Accelerator scholarship is for you.

“Over 12 months, you’ll meet like-minded women, learn the ins and outs of business and receive guidance from successful business owners.

“The scholarship is one step closer to realising your potential and making your business dream come true.

The program has places for five women who are starting their own business and five women looking to grow their existing business, applicants must live in the Geelong municipality to apply.

Participants will have access to a range of mentoring and lessons during the program including business planning, social media strategies, marketing and more.

Business in Heels chief executive Lisa Sweeney said the scholarship empowered female startups and existing women in business.

“Our program includes tailored mentoring, guidance, online learning and community support, designed to transform them into confident businesswomen.

“We are proud that some of our past participants have now become employers.”

Tamara Shaw, Nicole Chambers, Terri Wilby, Jessica Kerr and Simone Araujo Gugliandolo recently completed the 2023 program.

Simone Araujo Gugliandolo from Amazed Gluten Free said the program has empowered her with a supportive community and invaluable resources.

“Business in Heels played a crucial role in refining and rebranding my business which was a pivotal step in positioning my business more effectively in the market and attracting a broader audience.

“Through one-on-one mentorship sessions and expert-led workshops, I gained invaluable insights into pricing strategies, market analysis and value propositions.”
