Borough council agrees on CEO’s early departure
THE Borough of Queenscliffe will need to find a new chief executive officer, with incumbent Martin Gill to leave the role in less than three weeks.
In a statement earlier today (Tuesday, November 11), borough mayor Di Rule said the councillors and Mr Gill had “agreed terms for the early finalisation of the CEO’s present employment contract”, with Mr Gill to depart on November 28.
Mr Gill was appointed as the borough’s CEO in October 2019, and and came to the role with more than a decade of local government experience.
Cr Rule said Mr Gill had made a significant contribution to the Council and the Queenscliffe community over the past six years.
“On behalf of all the Councillors and the community of Queencliffe I thank Mr Gill for his efforts and wish him and his family all the best for the future.”
The council has resolved to appoint recruitment agency McArthur to assist them in identifying a suitable permanent CEO to replace Mr Gill.
“We are assured by McArthur that this is a coveted role and will attract many highly skilled suitable candidates,” Cr Rule said.
“I am excited by the opportunity to bring fresh energy and ideas to the management and culture of our council.”
She said the council was likely to appoint an interim CEO in the meantime, but did not reveal any further details.
