A BUILDER has been locked in and renders revealed for the coming upgrade works at Grovedale West Primary School.

Earlier this month, South Barwon MP Darren Cheeseman announced McColl Smith Projects Pty Ltd had been appointed for the redevelopment.

The Victorian government provided $6.56 million in the 2020-2021 State Budget to go towards the works at the school in Heyers Road.

The works include new outdoor learning spaces and landscaping.

Inside, pupils and staff will benefit from flexible and adaptable learning spaces, as well as new toilets, kitchen facilities and staff workspaces, while outside, there will be new outdoor learning spaces and landscaping.

Works are expected to be complete in the third quarter of 2023.

“I look forward to following the progress of this project, and I would like to thank Select Architects for their inspired designs, which will soon be made reality by the builder,” Mr Cheeseman said.

“Grovedale families are a step closer to getting the great local school facilities their kids need to thrive with the appointment of McColl Smith Projects.

“These fantastic renders showcase how good Grovedale West Primary will look when the new facilities are completed.”

McColl Smith Projects Pty Ltd will construct the works, expected to be complete by the third quarter of next year.

In the past eight years, the Victorian government says it has invested $12.8 billion in building new schools and more than 1,850 school upgrades, creating about 17,400 jobs in construction and associated industries.

The Victorian government says it is also ahead of schedule in its commitment to deliver 100 new schools between 2019 and 2026, with 75 new schools opening between 2019 and 2024.

Select Architects has designed the upgrades to the school.

“The Andrews Labor Government is making sure that our schools have the best facilities, our classrooms have the best teachers and that every child is given every chance to succeed,” Mr Cheeseman said.

“Every student should have a great school, no matter where they live.”
