Camp Quality Convoy to rumble and roar
CAMP Quality’s convoy of horns and engines will sound off throughout Geelong on Sunday, with 150 trucks and motorcycles setting off from Avalon Raceway.
The 60km “mega-convoy”, raising funds for children living with cancer, begins at Avalon Raceway at 9am and heads up the Geelong Ring Road, before tucking into Waurn Ponds.
The convoy will pass through suburbs such as Belmont, Geelong CBD, Corio and Lara before finishing back at Avalon Raceway for the day’s sold-out celebrations. Rides and entertainment will be running from 10.30am at the raceway on the day, with the convoy expected to return at 11am.
Camp Quality chief executive officer Deborah Thomas has urged donors to spare any cent they can, as every dollar made a difference.
“Geelong Convoy is such a special event that has been raising funds for kids and families impacted by cancer for eight years, providing access to life-changing cancer support services,” Ms Thomas said.
“The event is a testament to the generosity of the Geelong trucking and motorbike community and is a day full of fun and excitement, with more entertainment and activities this year than ever before.”
Spectators are being encouraged to cheer on the trucks streetside and enjoy a “trucking good time”.
As of February 10, more than $91,500 had been raised by fundraising teams and individuals.
