Carols on Pako rejoice at new home

December 23, 2022 BY

About 200 people made the trip to Geelong West Presbyterian Church on Sunday for Carols on Pako.

HUNDREDS of residents from Geelong’s western suburbs and beyond gathered to enjoy Geelong West Presbyterian Church’s first community carols inside its new home.

Church Pastor Luke McSeveny said all went according to plan at this year’s Carols on Pako event with more than 200 visitors attended the carols event.

The Gospel centred presbyterian church at 105-107 Pakington St, Geelong West facilitated a series on carols favourites ranging from “O Holy Night”, “Silent Night” and “Joy to the World” to “Away in a Manger” with special thanks to the church’s choir after weeks of practicing.

In previous years, Carols on Pako had been held at locations such as Ashby Primary School and West Park due to the unfortunate fire that destroyed the church in 2016.

The church’s carols on Sunday afternoon were the first time it held the event within its state-of-the-art building.

“This year was the start of something we hope to build up each year,” Mr McSeveny said.

Families of the church along with visitors spent the day singing carols.

“We feel it has a lot of potential to become a regular and large carols for years to come.

“The building we’re so thankful for and we hope it is used to bless the community of Geelong.”

Mr McSeveny said the next major community event for the church will be when it takes part in the annual Pako Festa celebration.
