SOUTH Barwon MP Darren Cheeseman is calling for the location of a new dog park at Armstrong Creek to be determined, in line with a promise made during last year’s state election.

Mr Cheeseman said a purpose-built park at Armstrong Creek’s Sparrowvale Reserve would provide a major service to the growing region.

“A purpose-built, open space for the dogs of Armstrong Creek is paw-some news and I can’t wait to deliver it,” Mr Cheeseman said.

“Last election, I committed to delivering a purpose-built dog park for Armstrong Creek growth corridor’s four-legged friends.

“The residents of South Barwon would see a local, pet-friendly space with purpose-built features.

“Providing owners and their pets the opportunity to spend quality time together and connect with others.”

A dog-friendly space in Armstrong Creek is also part of the Victorian government’s $13.4 million investment allocated in the 2023/24 Victorian Budget.

Mr Cheeseman says one in three Victorians had a dog, including himself – he is the owner of a greyhound named Barry.

“While Barry spends most of his time in a sunny spot napping, he loves going to green and fun-filled spaces to play with other dogs,” Mr Cheeseman said.

“To ensure that dogs like Barry can access the fun-filled open space, I’m supporting the dog park to be located in Sparrowvale Reserve, servicing the Armstrong Creek community.

Mr Cheeseman said anyone who was in favour of the new location for a dog park should head to his website at darrencheeseman.com.au
